Summary: Cold rainy day, wonderful Playback exchange and thrilling planning of upcoming events

Are we just the luckiest people? Not only do we get to stay in this perfect apartment for free all week... and tomorrow move to another place of our own we get to use free... but through Playback, we get to meet the most playful, warm, heartfelt actors and activists and all-around wonderful people. Not only that, but the people we're meeting are just thrilled by what we're bringing them: not only our songs and Playback forms, but perspective and affirmation as foreigners
committed to the same art form and values. Apparently we bring a much-needed breath of fresh air and hope, something that helps them step outside the hotbed of tension they live within.
In the morning we enjoyed an enthusiastic 3-hour exchange with the Playback ensemble Kartoshkes. Half the time we taught them and half the time they taught us. They loved it. We loved it. Fun to be with such a strong group. (They've rehearsed weekly for 12 years -- no wonder they're good!) Taken out afterwards for Turkish coffee and snacks. After a reviving nap and exercise back home, we visited Kartoshkes founding member and cross-cultural activist Dorit Lubrani, who is one of our primary hosts here. She walked us through the itinerary she's planned for us later in the week: training two different groups of Arab-Israeli actors in Jaffa and Nazareth. We'll be hosted by locals, meeting inspiring artist-activists.... Wow! (Originally she had arranged for us to train the first-ever Palestinian Playback group, but tensions from the political shifts in Egypt have postponed those plans.)
This evening we again had the brilliant idea that Christopher could go rehearse with two other Playback groups while I have my much-needed time alone. I'm just more of an introvert! So here I am. Talking to you.
